Ian McEwan, 2001. Read 9/29/21

This is an incredible, heart-breaking novel. I have rarely been brought to tears from a book, but this one moved me. McEwan not only built a fully-formed world, but he created fully rounded characters that think and act like real people.

The ambiguous ending broke me. I haven't yet seen the movie and I'm not sure I want to, given how much the book made me cry!

Rereadability: definitely will read again

Time to Read: 4 days

Classic: absolutely
