Honoré de Balzac, 1843

Date read: 2/20/25

I really enjoyed this novel! It was reminiscent of Thackeray, in my opinion, and apparently is part of a universe where multiple novels occur. I'm happy to see I have two more in this universe to read.

It is translated from the French and I really wish I knew French, because some of the English words chosen are very obscure and unique, and I'd love to know if that's what he actually said or just what the translator decided.

In all, it was a novel of how choices you make can really fuck your family over. And how selfish even loving people can be. 9 out 10, big thumbs up.

💫This novel marks 170 novels completed, with 430 remaining!💫
