Mikhail Bulgakov, 1940

Date read: 8/27/25

First and foremost, Robert Dudley did not murder his wife. Period, end of.

Besides that, this may be the strangest novel I've ever read. I'm not saying I didnt enjoy it. At points, I did. But it was hella weird.

I wonder if there is any connection between Satan as Woland and the Satanic Roland from Stephen King (ie The Stand).

A movie was recently made of this that is supposed to be excellent, but I'd have to buy it on DVD for 25$ because it is Russian and not available on any streaming. So idk if I will bother.

Very inventive and creative and weird af.

Added 8/30/25: this novel has kept perculating in my brain since I finished it. It is so clever that little things keep popping up in my mind like Oh! I see! Really a brilliant novel, if as I said before, one of the weirdest I've read.
