Anthony Powell, 1951 date read 2/25/22
This is a collection of three novels. The narrator, Nicolas Jenkins, does very little with his life. The "novels" are him interacting with much more dynamic characters than himself. I believe the idea was to see how people and his opinions of them changed.
There isn't a story arc or any of the characteristics English professors tell you make a good novel. Nicholas is philosophically minded and seems to see people in the world as merely players in his personal drama.
There is period-appropriate racism and sexism.
Time to Read: 3 days
Rereadability: meh, kinda boring
Classic: once again, this one doesn't really conform to the definition of a novel I don't think it is a classic. It isn't bad. It's just...white bread when I expected zucchini bread with walnuts.
