This is a 1500+ page novel. I got it from the library but it is so ungainly in hardcover, I ended up buying it on Kindle. I expected it to be like The Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann but it is frankly just boring. People do nothing for hundreds of pages and then Ma cries. I got 200 pages in. I fell asleep.
