Jane Smiley, 1991 Date Read 1/5/23

This novel is about generational trauma and child abuse and while I have a lot of thoughts on those topics, I'm not going to address them here because this blog is for me and I don't want to.

It is very well written and engrossing. Not a fun read by any means.

I was blown away that in the 1970s, a waitress could work full time and earn vacation, and enough money for a two bedroom apartment.
