We made our eyes a kind of mirror turned inwards, with the result they often show without reserve what we are verbally trying to deny
So this was hard to read, especially the [spoiler] rape scenes, yes, plural[/spoiler]. It is essentially post apocalyptic, with all that entails.
The harder part for me is, I live in the Era of Covid. This is a novel about a pandemic.
The lack of names was interesting to me. I think, as was stated in the novel, that he meant to show people without their self identifications. However, women are usually "the wife of" which is insulting really.
I don't think it is a bad novel but I do not think it is a classic must read. Maybe it was the first to do what it does idk.
