Barbara Kingsolver, 2022

This novel is wow. She says it was inspired by David Copperfield which I've not read (it's on the List) but standing alone it is incredible. She speaks as a young man with a consistent voice throughout. You really feel like someone is just sharing their story.

As someone who is disabled with chronic pain, I am unfortunately very familiar with opioids and the opioid crisis. Thankfully I was able to stop before I got to the points described in this novel, but I definately was at a crossroads where a few choices would have lead me down a very bad path.

I feel like this is one of the best novels I've ever read.
