Ernest Hemingway, 1940

Apparently, I don't like Hemingway. This is the second of his novels I've read and I just didn't like it.


There's parts I did like. I like how the writing mimics Spanish in a way so you feel like you're reading it in the language they're speaking. He did a phenomenal job setting the scene and making the people seem real.


I don't like war and he writes war novels. This one is the Spanish Civil War when Franco took control. Brutality doesn't cover it.
