Nathanael West, 1933

Date read: 8/16/24

These two stories were packaged together so I'm going to review them together.

First of all, a lotta rape fantasies. A lot. Like unhealthy.

Also, I was strongly reminded that 1933 was almost 100 years ago and times were different. Women had no rights and men ruled. No wonder the MAGAs want that back. It is bizarre to me in 2024.

The writing is superb. Vivid and graphic. I can't say I enjoyed either story but I definately felt both. I do see for sure why F. Scott Fitzgerald thought West was such a good writer.
