Alessandro Manzoni, 1827

Date read: 3/1/25

This is a very long novel (720 pages) because the author was a historian who put in all the information he learnt in his research. It was interesting, don't get me wrong, but if you took all that out you'd have a very tight, excellent novel.

The main problem in the novel is solved by a deus ex machina of the plague, which is a little, like, meh. But in the end the main characters end up happy so, whatever.

Evidently, this is the novel of Italy. It's okay. It's not amazing but, maybe it is in Italian?
