Jonathan Franzen, 2010

Date read: 12/12/23

For the most part, I enjoyed this novel. I liked how it was written. It varies from traditional third-party omniscient, to third-party but written by a specific character. I thought the author did a fantastic job writing as Patty from her point of view and in her voice.

Like The Way We Live Now, I hated the ending.
I felt that Walter was much better off without Patty and she should just suffer in her lonely misery. Also their reunion was way too contrived.
Patty is spoiled and awful and I hated her.

Overall, this was enjoyable and I read this whole long-ass novel in like three days.
